| Guido Borino was born in Catania the 9th June 1958. Full Professor of Strength of Materials (Scienza delle Costruzioni) at the School of Engineering of the University of Palermo since 1992. Since the October 2003 he is the Head of the Graduate School of Structural Engineeng (Dottorato di Ricerca) and from February 2004 to March 2007 he has been the President of the Civil Enginnering Scool of University of Palermo. He is active in research on several subjects of mechanics of materials and structures. He is author and co-author of about 100 papers on journals and communications to congresses on topics as: structural dynamics, elastic-plastic and viscoplastic constitutive laws, elastic shakedown, structural and material response to cyclic loads, nonlocal and gradient dependent theories for softening plasticity and damage. He has been the local coordinator of 6 National Interest Research Projects (PRIN) and has been involved in the organization of International conferences and meetings. Among them he has been the main organizer of the First CSMA-GIMC Joint Workshop on modern issues in modelling and computation of damage and failure, Cefalù (Palermo) ITALY, 7 - 9 June 2001. He maintains contacts and collaborations with researchers of different nations and international Universities and he has spent periods of study and research at European and US American Universities. |
